Feedback from SCHNELLMEDIA

ATTENTION - TO BE CONSIDERED

Only a few things might need to be considered. - Scope of the newsletter - how many topics - period - technical features on the part of the recipient (spam filter) - is opened when the newsletter is sent by Schnellmedia? - how important is the subject line? . That's why I think crisp, goal-oriented questions are always good. Students can also refer to the announcement of an Schnellmedia Employee , who has approached the project in the presence of numerous customers and has asked for support.

interactive news platform/application

Idea/Concept

In the module "Programming" the course MKD 1.  WS 12 / 13 should Develop ideas for an interactive news platform (newsletter etc.) or application for the media service provider SCHNELLmedia. I decided to do a newsletter. The newsletter is an outlet, where you can reach your clients based on your time schedule and can interact with the clients in a more entertaining manner as only to be strictly informative about the offers of schnellmedia. Moreover, you can indirectly put your brand in recognition sphere and also put in yourself in the readers  Subconcious so if you have certain task that involves an offer  schnellmedia comes as an instinctive idea.

My first idea was to create a microsite that has different applications. The microsite is intended to provide an opportunity to learn about various topics, view pictures and videos as well as playing games. Using a menu, you can navigate through the microsite; that is, if you click on a menu button such as "Pictures" a new browser window with different image galleries should appear. In addition, there should always be a large centered rollover image on the microsite, which displays a "before.-after image"

With the help of a SCHNELLmedia button, the user should have the possibility to switch to the SCHNELLmedia start page on the Internet.

With the help of the microsite, the user should get a more intensive examination of the field of image processing and also get to know the working methods of the SCHNELLmedia employees. In addition, the microsite should contain as many extensive applications as possible for the user, so that the user does not have to resort to many other websites etc.

With the help of the microsite, SCHNELLmedia can increase customer loyalty to its business, attract new customers and convey the character image of Schnellmedia as an innovative, dynamic and cosmopolitan company. /cf. Protocol with Schnellmedia.)

Planning the application/Newsletter

The newsletter / microsite is to be created using Adobe Dreamweaver Cs 5 , a web design software.

The target group of the interactive news platform (newsletter) or application is primarily intended to be advertised to SCHNELLmedia's customers, but also to new customers.

The professional positions of SCHNELLmedia's customers should be taken into account in the development of the microsite/newsletter so that the microsite/newsletter can also be efficient.

User Journey/Use case

In order to develop the microsite customeroriented, i developed a user journey in potential use of the microsite. This helps to higlight certain areas that should to be taken into consideration in developing the microsite and helps determine certain defeciencies in the devloped idea.

User

Since the majority of Schnellmedia customers are male, this aspect should be taken into account in usability. The  Schnellmedia customers want to reach their goal quickly and easily and this aspect of simplicity and speed should be brought into the usability.

Equipement

The user should have a working computer and an internet connection to open the interactive news platform (newsletter, etc.) or the application (microsite, screensaver). In a smartphone application, an internet-enabled smartphone is needed to download the application.

Description of the application/newsletter

The newsletter has a limited amount of functions.

The potential user is informed about the new microsite via email and the microsite opens with the help of a click on a hyperlink sent along.

The microsite consists of a "SCHNELLmedia" button, a menu bar, a rollover image, and an imprint.

By clicking on the "SCHNELLmedia" button, the user can go directly to the web side of Schnellmedia.

Clicking on the respective menu buttons opens a new browser window with a new design. Clicking on the "Themes" button opens a new browser window with different unstructured large headlines . Clicking on a headline changes the new browser window and a large text box opens with the basic control like "Minimize" etc. opens. For longer texts you can scroll down with a scroller. The Close control is used to sling the text box.

With the "Pictures" button, a new browser window opens with different image galleries. The picture galleries are pure-threaded images that can be let in and out faster with a arrow bar. If you click on an image, the image size increases and with a double click the mouse pointer turns into one hand and you can zoom in and move into an image. Outside of this field of view, the mouse pointer can be seen in its normal state. On this browser there is a "collection basket" in which the Quick Media customers can throw in images that like them and a new image gallery is created. You start the picture gallery by clicking on a folder called "My Pictures". This image gable can be finished using the "Close" control section.)

Outlook / possible future scenarios

When the microsite is completed, you should open a respective submenu to the main menu points when you click on it with the mouse pointer. When the submenu is run over, the color of the sub-item buttons should change.  The design of the buttons and the background can still be changed. The individual applications such as games etc. should still be developed and thought through conceptually and practically in terms of usability and user experience.

review of the project

I think the project gave the first insight how research intense a newsletter or microsite can be. It taught me that you have to very patient and that something like a questionare needs to be revided a couple of times to get the specific information you need to create the microsite/newsletter. The three month period were we had time to develop our idea was to short for the size of the project and we were not able to bring the project to an satisfing ending for the students and schnellmedia. There is difficulty in a developing and exiting and interesting newsletter and microsite for a company that works in a technical field, which they are known for and make clients to associate with other areas that this. People like to think in boxes and categories and they have a limted capacity to asscoiate a brand with multiple areas and facettes.

Therefore i think for branching out in new twerrorities have to be reaaly thought thrugh to not confuse your clients.

Screen-/Interface Design, Visual Design, Website - Design/Optimization, Wireframes, Prototypes

Pinterest -  Optimization of an interactive system

The task, based on the official project tasks of the MHMK, is to design an optimization of an interactive medium and to develop an online or offline application for this purpose.

Further creteries by the Professor were: - "It must be close to your heart in some respects" - "The matics can be dealt with, although not all in comparable detail"

Our  Professor  gave an introduction to interactive design and gave the task of an interactive medium (e.g. (e.g.) application, website, etc.) to find which one to use, but seems to be in need of improvement (functions, etc.)

Professor gave an introduction to the topic "Interactive Media" using an example. This example is one of his clients, a subsidiary of Bosch (Junkers), with whom he tries to develop an application (app) within a workshop in which he uses various methods: 1.Flow ("UI Flow, Flowchart") 2.Wireframe ("Function Layout) 3.IA ("Information Architecture) 4.User Stories

Then the Professor has developed a flow chart using the example of the Air-Berlin app and explained what problems exist in this app. As a result, the  course should also use these methods on their examples.

This was my example:

I chose the website Pinterest because I use this website almost every day and it has a problem. "Pinterest is a social network where users can pin collection of images with descriptions to virtual boards."

The problem is a missing function. Since they are personal pinboards, All "pins" without categories etc. are listed and if you are looking for a special pin, for example, you will only find it if you scroll down through the different pins, which takes a lot of time. My suggestion for improvement would be a function (search bar, etc.) that searches and displays the pins by key points or categories from the pinn wall.

.

As a homework assignment we had to create a flowchart and wireframes.

The course of study  recorded, explained and, if necessary improved its results with a camera.

These were my wireframes:

review of the project

This Project gave a good insght how seemingly little function add - on can take similar time - frames and steps to develop as a microsite. It takes multiple attempts to develop those function add - on/ improvement that it can be used only on one site or should be used throughout the Website. Either Way it needs to fit in the overall structure of the already existing website which can be tricky,  An issue also is that we had to copy the design of our chosen website which let us discover new functions and methods working with Adobe Illustrator. Overall i think that having to Wireframes and designs of already existing Website which is not your own creation seems useless but if you do recreate it yourself you understand the structure of the Website which helps you to find more possibilities of optimization.and where your thought - out function add - on/ improvement makes the most sense.
